Q: I am a 35yo female with sore nipples and pus-like discharge tinged with blood. This has been occurring for almost 6 months. After my daily shower, I wipe each nipple with an alcohol wipe trying to prevent or control infection if that is what's causing this. I wear a clean bra every day, never wearing it if the bra has been previously worn. The right nipple is painful and (very) dark purple in color, almost black in some areas with very little sensation on the darkest parts. The left nipple and areola are dark, but not as dark as the right nipple. The left nipple/areola also swells and then has watery yellowish discharge from the pores. (I really hope I am describing this correctly) The left nipple is sore to painful depending on where I am within my monthly cycle. The right nipple is always painful in areas where I have sensation. About 6 years ago I had a lump removed from my left breast (benign) with the incision along the areola line. Behind and including the left nipple, it is tender with a hard or dense feeling. I have always assumed this was just scar tissue from the surgery. I have not seen a doctor about this because my health insurance is an individual policy with not so great coverage and I'm afraid if I get a diagnosis of something severe like cancer, I would never be eligible for coverage again. Should I be more concerned or just assume its an infection that won't clear? Thoughts/opinions/answers? Thanks in advance.
A: my daughter had that n she had breast mice its small like lumps that move round she went to the doctors and all is well now so go get it checked out x
A: You need to see a DR ASAP. That's NOT something to ignore.
Q: I was wondering if anyone has had these before or knows what it could be? I noticed the other day when showering that both of my nipples and brown discolorations on them (not the areola, just the actual nipple) and when i touched them the skin on the end felt hard or rough. So I tried lightly scratching at them and small chunks of skin or something was coming out of the nipple (it looked like not on top of the skin but actually out of the nipple) I know this is TMI but i was concerned Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!
Q: I have had a sharp piercing nipple pain for about 4 days now. The areola is slightly swollen but with no redness. There are no lumps anywhere. I have 3 children and had a tubal 10 years ago, so possibility of pregnancy. It is very painful, even brushing my arm against my breast is painful. Any suggestions of what may have caused this? I think I am still too young for menapause, I'm 35.

Q: The other day I noticed there were black specs in my nipples (not on the areola). I was a little freaked out. At first I thought they were fibers from my bra. Well, I decided to squeeze them to see if they came out. When I did this, it looked like it had been dried blood. There were about five specs in each nipple. Has anyone had this before? The only thing I could come up with was that my partner got a little rough and was biting them kinda hard, so maybe that caused it? After I squeezed them all out, they never came back. Any input is appreciated!!
A: Hi Pumpkin, I'm currently experiencing the same issue. I know I'm not pregnant as it has been a trying time for me and my husband. I noticed a few weeks ago a spot of blood in my left bra cup, but didn't think it was blood when I first saw it, and kind of dismissed the fact it was there until just this past Saturday while getting undressed and notice the same spot in the same side of my bra. I placed the bra back over my left nipple and decided it must have come from my breast. I exammed my left breast for scars and didn't see anything. I was still puzzled and once in the bathtub decided to squeeze my nipple and watched the blood appear. I'm scheduled to see my doctor in a few weeks so I haven't called to inquire at this point. I just want to know if you've gotten any resolution to your problem? Any information will help me until my doctors visit.
A: I happened to be searching for information on blood spot on nipples and came across this forum. Pumpkin78 describes exactly what I have had happen. Little black spots on the nipple, not the top, but the sides of it, and not on the areola. I also couldn't help myself but squeeze at them and they were definately not blackheads, but resembled dried blood. I had it happen several months ago, about 6 spots on right nipple. Now had it happen again this morning, about 10 spots on right nipple. I am currently pregnant, but was definitely not pregnant the first time it happened, so I feel quite sure it's not related to the pregnancy. If anyone has found out more as to whether it is something to be concerned about I would love to know.
Q: For the past couple of weeks my right breast has been very itchy and dry on the nipple. Also my nipples are inverted, is that normal? I'm only in my twenties ,is it possible for me to have breast cancer this young?
A: I agree with learner--inverted nipples are normal. This might be TMI...but just to make you feel better about how common it is...after my children were born and I was trying to breast feed, when my breasts became engorged, my nipples inverted. They have "shields" for this that draws them out. So, no worries. If devices exist to fix this, then lots of women must have them!!!
A: That doesnt sound like breast cancer... Have you been putting lotion on? That helps when Im dry.. Have you changed ur detergent? That could cause irritation. An inverted nipple is also normal.. Doesnt sound like too much to worry about. If it continues to bother you see ur doctor.
Q: Hi, I am a 56 year old female who had a hysterectomy in 2006 because of ovarian problems, fibroids, and other things. My question is related to my breasts. I woke up this morning noting my left breast felt tender and somewhat painful, but not severe. Also my skin around the arealo ( nipple ) is pink and warm to the touch. The other breast actually feels cold. I thought it may be the clothes or way I slept, so rechecked it with one of those foreahead thermomenters you use on children. My right breast was so cold on same area near nipple it didn't even register. The Left breast on same area, that is pink and warm changed color showing fever within 20 seconds. My question is this normal, for one breast to be cold and one warm and pink or red?Should I be watching for anything else? I know when I gave childbirth in the 1970's I had childbed fever and also Mastitis so I am familiar with what that is. I just dont' know if this is normal or should I be concerned. Any advice is welcome, thanks. The only thing new is I got a flu vaccine about 3 days ago.I have had no accidents or hitting of the breast. Thanks, fluffypurrcat
A: Hey there! It could well be an infection. It could be due to the flu shot. I know when I had mine earlier in the year I had funny warm spots on my body. Any breast changes should be mentioned to your doctor though. Take care!
Q: I went to the beach on saturday and swam in the water. I was only in there for about 15 minutes when my right breast nipple started burning. This is not the first time this has happened. It only happens when I swim in natural sea water, not in my salt water pool. I wasn't fully able to enjoy my beach trip because I was in pain. I noticed yesterday that my nipple is a little red, but I don't know how it got red. Could it be sun burn? I was wearing a top, so I don't know how that could have gotten any sun. My other nipple feels fine and doesn't show any redness. Does anyone know what is causing the pain and how to stop it?
A: am having the same prob as you :( if only someone would reply :s
Q: I am a 39yrs old and have 2 children. I have light fair skin and I went to a tanning salon to try to get some color before our family vacation. I went 6-8 times and was using a stand up tanning booth. My nipples/areolas have always been a light shade of pink and now I have noticed that my nipples/areolas have turned more light brown in color. I am no longer tanning but I am concerned that my nipples will never go back to their original pink color. Have I permanently changed them? I do know how dangerous the sun is and artificial sunlight is and can be even worse. It was something I did for a very short period of time but now I am afraid that I have permanently changed the appreance of my breasts. If anyone has any information or knowledge about this please respond. Thank you.
A: i tanned everyday for 8 months, and you do notice changes like that and it is 100% normal i was an idiot and asked the front counter lady and my doctor because i thought i had burnt them or fried them but apparently it is normal! it tans just like the rest of your body, so its something that should be expected!
A: This may sound silly, but when I go tanning, I just put chap stick with an SPF on them before going in...it works!
